Ângela Guimarães Pereira has a PhD in Environmental Assessment with the New University of Lisbon. Since 1996 she is working at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, where with others she formed the Knowledge Assessment Methodologies group. She is responsible for activities on science & society interfaces that range from knowledge quality assurance methodologies to social research and deployment of new information technologies for EU inclusive governance prospects. She has also organised in 2003 the first landmark Conference on Interfaces between Science & Society in Milan. She is responsible for the network of the "Worldwide Virtual Network of Young Researchers Working on Science and Society Issues", http://alba.jrc.it/science-society.
