European Education, Training and Youth Forum
The Stakeholder’s Forum 2012, renamed “European Education and Training Forum” this year, will take place on 18th and 19th of October 2012 in Brussels. Around 300 participants will gather to discuss EU policies about education and training. EUCIS-LLL and its members’ objective is to contribute to the debate by bringing in the perspective of civil society.
The aim of the Forum is to mobilise stakeholders and policy makers to modernise education and training systems through national and EU policies and instruments in order to enhance growth and jobs. This year’s Forum will have a double focus on:
1) Education and training aspects of Europe 2020
and
2) the future Erasmus for All programme
The outcome will provide input for the November Council Conclusions on Europe 2020 and for the implementation of Erasmus for All.
The Forum will gather around 300 participants: Education and Training as well as youth stakeholders, national and regional policy makers, representatives of the business world and civil society. It will be prepared through a consultation of selected stakeholders’ organisations using social media tools.
EUCIS-LLL is supporting the initiative and works together with the European Commission on the event. Further information and invitations will be sent out at a further stage.

Policies for OER Uptake
POERUP is carrying out research to understand how governments can stimulate the uptake of OER by policy means. We aim to convince decision-makers that in order to be successful with OER, they will have to formulate evidence-based policies based on looking beyond one’s own country, region or continent, beyond the educational sector they look after.
POERUP aims to study the end-user–producer communities behind OER initiatives. By comparing in-depth European case-studies to selected non-European ones we will refine and elaborate recommendations to formulate a set of action points that can be applied to ensuring the realisation of successful, lively and sustainable OER communities.
We want to provide education authorities, the research community and OER initiative management with trustworthy and balanced research results, in which feedback from all stakeholder groups has been incorporated and which can be used as standard literature. A specific objective is to help readers in charge of OER initiatives to find ways of incorporating successful features of other initiatives.
European Design Innovation SUmmit 2012
The main event of the European Design Innovation Initiative in 2012 will be held on September 17 and 18 in Helsinki, World Design Capital in 2012. The report of the European Design Leadership Board “DESIGN FOR GROWTH AND PROSPERITY” will be presented and discussed during the event
The European Design Leadership Board was established in early 2011 by Antonio Tajani, Vice President of the European Commission responsible for Enterprise and Industry. Vice President Tajani invited the Leadership Board to provide recommendations on how to enhance the role of design in innovation policy in Europe at the national, regional or local level and to develop a joint vision, priorities and actions to enable design to become an integral part of innovation policies in Europe, in line with the Innovation Union. Over a period of one year, the European Design Leadership Board held seven meetings and a co-design policy workshop with over fifty key stakeholders from government, industry, academia, the design industries and the public sector.
Taking a broad-based view of design, the Leadership Board identified twenty-one policy recommendations, in six strategic areas for design action:
- European design on the global stage
- Design in Europe’s Innovation system
- Design in Europe’s enterprises
- Design in Europe’s public sector
- Design in Europe’s research system
- Design in Europe’s education system
The twenty-one recommendations will be spelled out during the Summit. All participants will receive a copy of the report “DESIGN FOR GROWTH AND PROSPERITY”
The Summit will be hosted by the City of Helsinki and is expected to start at 16.30 on 17 September and to close at 15.30 on 18 September. The audience is limited to 200 participants and will be completed in the order of registration. REGISTER NOW!

Digital Agenda Assembly: Workshop 20. Digital literacy and e-Inclusion
This workshop aims to create in-depth awareness and provide practical tools for the EU Member States to engage in structured, long term policies for digital literacy acquisition in the e-Inclusion context (Digital Agenda action 66). elearningeuropa.info will participate.
Through a participative workshop in the form of a hands-on training centre, digital literacy courses of various levels (from basic to professional ICT skills), for various target groups and purposes will be available (e.g. employability, re-skilling, social inclusion).
Models of successful and relevant policies and funding mechanisms of all levels will be discussed. A set of stakeholder recommendations as to the remaining challenges to be addressed as priority will be drawn.
This workshop is organized with the Big Idea of Multi-stakeholder platform for digital literacy and e-Inclusion.
