Public profile Matty Smith
Matty spent 20 years as a classroom teacher before moving into educational administration. She joined Henley Management College in 1993, initially as Doctoral Office Manager but then undertook a research fellowship, funded by the Ford Motor Company, exploring the use of technology to support work-based management development. During this time she gained an MSc in Networked Learning from Lancaster University.
In 2000 Matty was appointed Director Learning & Teaching Services at Henley Management College (now Henley Business School at the University of Reading), with responsibility for overall learning and teaching strategy, the development, design and delivery of the MBA distance learning online environments and materials, for professional development of Faculty supporting the MBA distance learners and for working with clients by providing input into learning and teaching issues embedded within corporate management development programme design. In addition she has worked on a number of EU and other externally funded research projects, has published a number of papers and presented both papers and keynote addresses at various conferences. In 2008 Matty received an Honorary Degree from the College. She has retired from the College but continues to work in a consultancy capacity with a number of clients as well as being Programme Director for the European Learning Industry Group (ELIG).
